Luke Albert Combs was born on March 2, 1990, in Huntersville, North Carolina, and later moved to Asheville at the age of eight. He is the only child of Rhonda and Chester Combs. From a young age, Combs displayed a passion for music, participating in school musicals and joining his church choir, which once performed at Carnegie Hall. He attended Appalachian State University, where he played his first country music show at the Parthenon Cafe. With less than a month left before graduation, Combs made the pivotal decision to drop out and pursue a music career in Nashville.

In 2014, Combs released his debut EP, The Way She Rides, followed by Can I Get an Outlaw the same year. His breakthrough came with the single "Hurricane" in 2015, which sold 15,000 copies in its first week and reached number 46 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. This success led to a deal with Sony Music Nashville.

Combs' debut studio album, This One's for You (2017), topped the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and reached number five on the Billboard 200. The album produced several hit singles, including "When It Rains It Pours" and "One Number Away." His second album, What You See Is What You Get (2019), debuted at number one on both the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums charts. In 2022, he released Growin' Up, followed by Gettin' Old in 2023, showcasing his evolving artistry.
